Tomini Bay praised by The Minister of Human Development and Culture

 

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK), Puan Maharani,  attended the Boalemo Festival 2015, Gorontalo. On that chance, she gave a compliment to the beauty of Boalemo which is located in coast of Tomini Bay, Sulawesi Island. "Boalemo located on the coast of the Gulf of Tomini so it is not surprised that this area has a beautiful panoramic view of the beaches and a high wealth of marine biological resources" she mentioned. Boalemo Festival 2015 was a cultural festival that is included in a series of events in Tomini Sail 2015 that aims to make Boalemo as a tourist destination nationally and internationally, so as to boost the regional economy, especially marine tourism sector. Boalemo Festival 2015 took the theme ‘Pearl of the Equator to the Life os the Future’.

Puan explained that Festival Boalemo 2015 was held to accelerate the development of marine and coastal areas of the islands. Festival Boalemo activities included BUMN Cares for Tomini and Boalemo Festival 2015, yacht rally and nautical sport contest, exhibition, convention dan national and international seminars. According to her, this event was held for the acceleration of development and potential development of marine resources and tourism in the region. Other than that, such activities were also held for the public welfare broadest, particularly coastal communities and small islands. She also reminded that the development of tourism is not only important in terms of economic development, but also in terms of cultural development.  “We as a nation must be able to build an integrated economic and cultural. With the development of tourism, will open up opportunities for local industries grow based on the current culturethat inevitably have to be ready to compete in both domestic and international markets," said Puan.

To optimize the potential of marine resources and tourism, according to her, the country must prepare human resources. Qualified human resources, productive and competitive must be prepared through human development of culture and tourism awareness. "With a wealth of natural resources, as well as the diversity of customs and cultures, I am sure people will be able to build Boalemo tourism sector as a locomotive of economic growth in the future," said Puan.­­
