Aquatic Life in Tomini Bay

 

Tominic Bay is often known as “sea of heaven”. It is located at north of Sulawesi, specifically, Gorontalo Province. In this place, we can enjoy the beauty of underworld sea. During dry season, we can easily dry our clothes around the boat. The Afternoon waves are pretty strong. They can reach 1.5 meters to 2 metres  under the sea. At Tomini Bay's dock's side, traditional cookies are sold.  The ships harbour for about 1 hour to take up passengers and crops, such as  cloves, copra and chocolate. The production of clove in Tojo una-una in 2012 was 1.201 ton with a land’s area of 2.190 hectares. The cyclists inside the ship's rooms went outside to enjoy the art of sea. They usually take photos on the second floor. Visitors don’t want to miss the sunset moment by taking pictures. Tomini Bay is one of the largest areas in Indonesia that is rich of fishes and also has a beauty of the small islands with white sand. Main sight in this bay is Togean Islands Marine Park. Togean is one of the most recommended destination places for divers around the world. On the territory of the sea park, there are 3 small islands that become the main dive sites, namely Kadidiri Island, Tanjung Keramat, and Mangampa.

 

In Togean Island, 262 coral species, 555 molusca species, and 596 reef fish were discovered. When the sea water recedes, the big coral reefs are spotted on the sea's surface. Around this area, we can feel the sensation of snorkelling in the border of two different depths of sea with undulating coastal topography with muddy material, the types of mangrove, sea grass, coral reefs. Dominance fish that is in the bay includes yellow fin tuna, skipjack, tuna, overpasses, mackerel, trevally, song, lemuru, snappers, groupers, napoleon wrasse, whale sharks, whales, manta, dolphin, octopus, Parot fish, mola mola, Stingray and lots muck and pompano. While endemic species include monkeys Sulawesi (Macaca Heki), hawksbill, dwarf buffalo, giant clams (Tridacna gigas), turtles, hornbills, sea eagles, dwarf buffalo (Bubalus depressicomis), hog deer (Babyrouse babyrussa), maleo (Macrocephalon maleo), monkey mini (Tarsius spectrum), the king of ancient marine fish (the coelacanth).
